Do I need an order from a doctor or the courts to get a paternity test?

Not at all. As long as all parties to be sampled agree to the test and any minor child has the approval of a legal guardian, the test can be performed.

How long does DNA testing take?

Results are available within 2 - 3 days following receipt of the samples. If it is an immigration case, we must wait for the US Embassy in the foreign country to provide samples from the beneficiary.

How are DNA samples collected?

All samples are taken with cheek (buccal) swabs. This is a painless, accurate way to collect DNA. Since DNA is present in every human cell, this method is just as accurate as blood

Does the child have to be a certain age for testing?

No. There is no minimum age. Once established, DNA never changes. We often take DNA from infants still in the hospital.

Is the test confidential?

Only the tested parties (or their guardians) and their named representatives will see the results. If there is a written court order,then the court will get a copy.
